ROBERT SMITH JR, 1946-2015

Robert Smith, of Hummelstown, PA, passed away on May 23, 2015. He was 68 years of age. He was born on June 10, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA.

Bob graduated in the Class of 1964 from Triton High School, Runnemede, NJ, where he was very active in sports, participating in football, wrestling, and track and field. He went on to play one year of football at Rutgers University, before an injury forced him to retire from the game.

Bob received a degree in Business and graduated with the Class of 1968.Immediately after graduation, he began his career with IBM, where he worked as a System Specialist. After 40 years of dedicated service, he retired in 2008.

Bob enjoyed playing golf, watching sports on TV, vacationing on Long Beach Island, NJ, and spending time with his family, especially, his grandchildren. Bob was a member of Derry Presbyterian Church in Hershey. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and was well known among his family for making everyone laugh.

Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara (nee Cuthbert), and well as his children, Robert Jr., his wife Sarah, and their son Dylan of Cleona, PA; Jennifer J, her husband Barry Shaffer, Jr., and their daughters Darian, Destiny, Savannah, and Crystal of Harrisburg, PA; and Ryan, his wife Alicia, and their sons Brayden and Mason of St. Augustine, FL.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 29, 2015, at 11:00 am in the Hoover Funeral Home and Crematory, Rt. 422 and Lucy Avenue, Hershey, PA, with Rev. Dr. Marie L. Buffaloe officiating. Visitation was from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial was at the Hershey Cemetery.
